Welcome To The Wimbledon Club

The Club is owned by its members and provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with a vibrant social scene. Members enjoy regular social nights, including quizzes, wine tasting, evenings to the Wimbledon theatre, a Christmas pantomime, sports section discos and dances, inter-section sports days, plus the finals' days for tennis and squash and the annual Club Ball.

The facilities include a 9 acre site off Church Road, with a cricket pitch and practice nets, 1 grass hockey pitches, 8 grass tennis courts, 7 hard courts (4 floodlit), 5 squash courts (4 glass backed), an indoor sports hall which is used for tennis and cricket practice, and a fitness suite. Under long-term lease arrangements the Club hires 2 astro turf hockey pitches, one from King's College School in Raynes Park and one from Raynes Park High School. Crucially, the Club has ample parking for all members.
Section 2

The entire area of the Club and Wimbledon Park was originally laid out by Capability Brown for one of the great houses of Wimbledon. The Club's site is surrounded by Wimbledon Park Golf Club on three sides and by the lake on the fourth side. The Wimbledon Club was founded on the current site in 1890 when Wimbledon Cricket Club (founded in 1854 on Wimbledon Common) joined with a new Tennis section. Wimbledon Hockey Club and Wimbledon Ladies Hockey Club hired the ground in winter and were incorporated into the Club in the 1970s. The first squash court was added in the 1930s and Wimbledon Lakeside Squash Club was formed in 1973.

The new Clubhouse, which opened in April 1998, has a first floor bar and restaurant with balconies overlooking the tennis courts and cricket / hockey pitches. There are extensive changing rooms and showers, plus a mixed sauna. Members can sit out on a summer's day and unwind with a drink and a meal, overlooking the famous spire of St. Mary's church whilst dinghies sail past on Wimbledon Park lake -- it's hard to believe we're only 8 miles from central London!
Section 3
Wimbledon Fortnight

The Club benefits from Wimbledon fortnight income, and with this comes some restriction for that period. The first floor area of the clubhouse is closed during the day, a membership card must be shown to gain access to the clubhouse, and cars are only allowed into the ground with a valid Club car-parking permit.
